Graphic design is my virtual vocation. I lived in the Washington DC area for most of my life, but my dog, Pixel Nelson, and I recently moved to a far more isolated place, with lots of inspiration – Red Lodge, Montana. It is in a log cabin on a creek where I “toil.”
All my life I’ve been studying and practicing effective communication with words and imagery using different tools from photography and paint to various textiles and digital pixels. Visual impressions are generally the first to be made and is a fact that a picture can speak a thousand words or even more. Turning ideas into images is a process which I like to log in my blog and usually I start with hand made sketches.
My education and experience come from a myriad of places and so do my clients. I have a BA from the University of Maryland, College Park, with a double major in Art History and Studio Art as well as a minor in Business and Marketing and an MA in Publication Design from the University of Baltimore. Over the years I have continued to work for myself and others – all while educating myself in the fields of art/photography, interior design, graphic design, TV, Film and personal styling. I wrote promotional advertising pieces for Coastal Living Magazine for 8 years as well as some published advertorials for the magazine. I have been certified by several business including Google Inc.(innerspace photography), Ethan Allen Inc. (interior design) and J.Hilburn Inc.(personal styling) and I am a 17 – year member of the Screen Actors Guild / American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.
